A crucial requirement of the second and third prototypes was the ability to move the elevators using a motor and to do so an electronic circuit board was designed and created. Within this circuit the user would be able to select a destination floor or emergency stop button in the event of an emergency; the elevator would acknowledge the user input and move up, down or stop accordingly. Furthermore, the braking mechanism and the door would be fully operational. A small LED display would also output the floor at which the elevator was currently on.
To fulfill this requirement an electronic circuit board and associated computer programming code was developed which allowed direct control over the operation of the motor.

The code used to program the micro controller can be found HERE. It was developed in tandem with the MPLab schematic, and programmed onto the micro controller using the 'Pickit' tool shown in the image above and below.
